As a way of contributing to humanity, Sierra Leone network on the Right to Food (SiLNoRF) on Tuesday 31st<\/sup> October, 2017 donated food and non-food items worth over three thousand eight hundred Euros (\u20ac 3,800, 000) to the Victims of the August 14 Flood Victims.<\/span><\/p>\n

The donation was done directly to 130 affected family households at the Juba camp in the western area of Freetown. <\/span><\/p>\n

Among the items donated were used clothing specifically for children aged 0 to 7 years and 7 to 14 years, men and women clothing, Milk, Biscuits, Corn Meal, over 5 cartoons of assorted soap, for laundry and bathing. <\/span><\/p>\n

Presenting the items on behalf of SiLNoRF, The Project and Membership Coordinator of SiLNoRF; Lansana Hassan Sowa explained that the donation came as a result of their donors who were in Sierra Leone when the August 14th<\/sup> Mudslide and flooding took place.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to him, before their donors left, they promised to send their support to them.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

He went on to say the donation came after SiLNoRF on two occasions visited the camp to investigate needs assesment of the victims before they purchased the said items. <\/span><\/p>\n

He emphasised that the donated items were in line with what was suggested by the officials managing the camp. <\/span><\/p>\n

Sowa sympathized with the family on behalf of SiLNoRF for the loss of lives and property. He prayed that such never happens again in the country. <\/span><\/p>\n

Philomina Isatu Turay Camp Manager representing Office of National Security (ONS) thanked SiLNoRF on behalf of ONS and the government of Sierra Leone for their timely intervention. <\/span><\/p>\n

She said their thought and effort has brought smile to the faces of the victims. He also thanked the donor for such gesture. She described their move as one that will augment the government\u2019s efforts. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou have done a great deal and we appreciate you so much, we thank you and appreciate you so much\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

The victims were pleased with the donation.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n
