Ahead of the opposition, SLPP\u2019s convention where the flagbearer of the party will be chosen to contest for President in next year\u2019s polls, former Chairman of the party and contender for flagbearer, John Benjamin has said that he hopes his main challenger, Brig (Rtd) Maada Bio will support him when he wins the party\u2019s ticket later in the week.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the nature of his relationship with the former military strongman he worked with during the National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC) junta in 19192, J.O.B said; \u201cBoth of us are vying for the flag and a lot has been made of the breakdown of our friendship, blowing up this mole hill into a mountain.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said they have been friend with Bio since he was fighting the RUF stationed in Segbwema and that, \u201cI expect him to support me when I am chosen to contest for our party.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, Benjamin promised to support Bio in the unlikely event that he was defeated at the primaries. \u201cAfter all, I supported him in 2012 when as Chairman of the SLPP, we chose him as our standard bearer.\u201d<\/p>\n
J.O.B stressed that he holds no grudge against Bio and he hopes the latter has none for him.<\/p>\n
