{"id":81424,"date":"2017-06-19T03:18:20","date_gmt":"2017-06-19T03:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=81424"},"modified":"2017-06-27T03:21:05","modified_gmt":"2017-06-27T03:21:05","slug":"former-minister-feeds-2000-kids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=81424","title":{"rendered":"Former Minister Feeds 2,000 Kids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The former Minister of Social Welfare Gender and Children\u2019s Affairs, Moijue Kaikai (in photo) and one of Sierra Leone\u2019s popular musicians, Alhaji Nasser Ayoub on the 16<sup>th<\/sup> of June this year, graced the commemoration of the Day of the African Child Day Pujehun by feeding and entertaining over two thousand children.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, the erstwhile minister pointed out that the day was a significant one in the lives of children in Africa who have joined their colleagues in South Africa to commemorate the June 1976 Soweto massacre of innocent children in their fight against discrimination under the then apartheid regime championed by white folks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is for that reason the United Nations set aside June 16<sup>th<\/sup> of every year for a deep reflection of bloodletting of thousands of children,\u201d he said. The theme of this year\u2019s Day of the African Child speaks volumes of the fact that there is need for every child to be empowered and given equal opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Children, he said, can make the best out of knowledge acquired, as they are the hope of their parents and the world at large.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. KaiKai concluded by commending His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for pioneering and enacting the Child Rights Act which, he said, seeks to protect the rights of children.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Nasser Ayoub stated that his passion for the development of children is unlimited.
