Many people who normally go to Lumley Beach at the weekends with vehicles to enjoy themselves have started gambling the lives of pedestrians and joggers for whom Government cares so much about.<\/p>\n

One of the recent developments at Lumley Beach is the construction of standard sidewalks\u00a0along the Beach Road by Government to ensure no pedestrians or joggers use the main road to avoid accident.<\/p>\n

Sierra Express Media<\/em><\/strong> has, however, gathered that despite the spacious car park at Lumley Beach that\u00a0can accommodate more than 300 vehicles, many motorists are in the habit of parking their vehicles on the sidewalks, thereby gambling the lives of pedestrians and joggers by forcing them to use the main road and that can lead to accidents.<\/p>\n

According to observers, most of those fond of parking their vehicles on the sidewalk\u00a0are those who play beach football; they always like to park their vehicles at the edge of the beach where the sidewalks\u00a0are constructed, without any consideration for the pedestrians.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernment should make the sidewalks\u00a0no parking areas for motorists and defaulters should be severely dealt with if caught,\u201d said a concerned Sierra Leonean, Denis Williams, who claimed to have been almost hit by a vehicle on Beach Road when all the sidewalks\u00a0were parked with vehicles.<\/p>\n

He opined that those using the sidewalks \u00a0for parking\u00a0are lawless people and if their lawlessness is not checked by Government, their irresponsible action could lead to many accidents, especially at the weekends when Lumley Beach is normally overcrowded with people from various walks of life.<\/p>\n

Like Denis Williams, many other pedestrians and joggers who are mostly young people, have complained bitterly about the misuse of the sidewalks\u00a0by motorists, whose lawlessness has exposed their vulnerability to accident.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect Government to order us put a stop to the use of those sidewalks\u00a0as a car park instead of taking a fire brigade approach when accidents would have occurred,\u201d said a police officer that begged for anonymity.<\/p>\n
