{"id":76832,"date":"2015-12-15T02:23:46","date_gmt":"2015-12-15T02:23:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=76832"},"modified":"2015-12-15T02:23:46","modified_gmt":"2015-12-15T02:23:46","slug":"yawbeko-chiefdom-elects-paramount-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=76832","title":{"rendered":"Yawbeko Chiefdom elects Paramount Chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The people of Yawbeko Chiefdom in the Bonthe District in the South of Sierra Leone on Monday, 7<sup>th<\/sup> December, 2015 elected 53 year old Duramani Donald Jangba as their Paramount Chief.\u00a0 (<em>Photo<\/em>: <em>Paramount Chief Duramani Do-Joe Jangba 1V of Yawbeko Chiefdom<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The election which took place in the Chiefdom headquarter town of Talia has been described by observers as peaceful, free, fair and transparent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chief Duramani Jangba polled 137 voles to beat his rival Mohamed M. F. Gomondeh who polled 109 votes in the run-off on December 7.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the first round of the elections on Tuesday, 24<sup>th<\/sup> November, 2015, Mohamed M.F. Gomondeh polled 113 votes while Duramani Donald Jangba polled 67 votes, Thomas Jangba got 65 votes with Kagbindi Gomondeh trailing with 2 votes forcing a second round as the leading candidate did not get the 55% threshold of votes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In an interview with this paper, the Chief who has taken the title of Paramount Chief Duramani Do-Joe Jangba 1V said he is very grateful to the people of Yawbeko Chiefdom for electing him as their Chief.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He appealed to his losing opponents to work with him so that they can develop the Chiefdom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said he was anxiously looking forward to be with his people soon after his inauguration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new Chief who resides at 11J Kissy Brook in the east of Freetown, is a Christian and is married with two children.
