{"id":72209,"date":"2014-12-18T04:27:05","date_gmt":"2014-12-18T04:27:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=72209"},"modified":"2014-12-18T04:27:05","modified_gmt":"2014-12-18T04:27:05","slug":"hastings-ebola-treatment-centre-discharges-22-survivors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=72209","title":{"rendered":"Hastings Ebola Treatment Centre discharges 22 survivors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Freetown, Dec. 15, 014 (MOHS) &#8211; Set 10 of Twenty-Two (22) Ebola Survivors have been discharged on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Hastings Police Training School Ebola Treatment Centre.\u00a0 (<em>Photo<\/em>: <em>A cross section of the Survivors)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Addressing Survivors and their families at the Hastings Police Training School Keith Lewis Hall at Hastings, the Director of Children\u2019s Affairs, Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children\u2019s Affairs, Mrs. Mariatu Bangura, described the discharged ceremony as a very special day for the survivors.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_72206\" style=\"width: 346px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Director-of-Children\u2019s-Affairs-Mrs.-Mariatu-Bangura-delivering-her-statement.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72206\" class=\"size-full wp-image-72206\" src=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Director-of-Children\u2019s-Affairs-Mrs.-Mariatu-Bangura-delivering-her-statement.jpg\" alt=\"Director of Children\u2019s Affairs, Mrs. Mariatu Bangura delivering her statement\" width=\"336\" height=\"345\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-72206\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Director of Children\u2019s Affairs, Mrs. Mariatu Bangura delivering her statement<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She expressed special thanks and appreciation to the health workers and other staff of the Hastings Ebola Treatment Centre for their great sacrifice in saving lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Director described the discharged ceremony as a celebration marking the success story of \u00a0Sierra Leone, noting that all the staff working in the Centre are 100 percent Sierra Leoneans. She described their job as tremendous, observing that if more support is given to them, no patient will die of Ebola in their facility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Mrs. Bangura advised the survivors to abstain from sex for three months (90 days), and to be ambassadors in their various communities to spread the message of Ebola on the denial syndrome<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She disclosed plans to take care of orphans, and assured of her Ministry\u2019s mandate to seek the welfare of vulnerable women and children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Deputy Health and Sanitation Minister II, Madam Madina Rahman described the event as another milestone in the history of the Hastings Ebola Treatment Centre.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_72205\" style=\"width: 346px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Deputy-Health-and-Sanitation-Minister-II-Madam-Madina-Rahman-making-her-remarks.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72205\" class=\"size-full wp-image-72205\" src=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Deputy-Health-and-Sanitation-Minister-II-Madam-Madina-Rahman-making-her-remarks.jpg\" alt=\"Deputy Health and Sanitation Minister II, Madam Madina Rahman making her remarks\" width=\"336\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-72205\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Deputy Health and Sanitation Minister II, Madam Madina Rahman making her remarks<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She encouraged her audience about early reporting to the health facilities as there are chances of surviving the virus, and appealed to make good use of the newly established Survivor\u2019s clinic at the Hastings Treatment Centre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Madam Rahman commended development partners for their great efforts and support to contain the disease, expressing the need for more support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Centre Coordinator, Dr. Santigie Sesay informed his audience that the discharged survivors include two of their staff in the centre, Rebecca Johnson, a nurse and Ibrahim Bangura, a Laboratory Technician, adding that a Lab Technician from Tonkolili district was also discharged, and lost two of their doctors.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_72204\" style=\"width: 346px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Centre-Coordinator-Dr.-Santitgie-Sesay.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72204\" class=\"size-full wp-image-72204\" src=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Centre-Coordinator-Dr.-Santitgie-Sesay.jpg\" alt=\"Centre Coordinator, Dr. Santitgie Sesay\" width=\"336\" height=\"379\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-72204\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Centre Coordinator, Dr. Santitgie Sesay<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Highlights of the event include distribution of certificates, and the presentation of gifts of food, and non-food items to the Survivors.<\/p>\n<p><em>KK\/MOHS<\/em> <strong><em>Stay with Sierra Express Media, for your trusted place in news!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Freetown, Dec. 15, 014 (MOHS) &#8211;
