As the need for more support in quarantined households intensifies, more sons of the soil are coming to the aid of their fellow countrymen. Last week, it was Dr Jonathan Bonopha Tengbe, a UK-based highway expert who donated several bags of rice to households in the Kissi Kama and Kissi Teng Chiefdoms in the Kailahun District, East of Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n
The presentation was made by Chief Tengbe on behalf of Dr.Tengbe in a well attended ceremony witnessed by traditional leaders and subjects of the Kissi Kama and Kissi Teng Chiefdoms where he said \u201cother chiefdoms including Kissi Tongi will benefit from this goodwill project in the weeks to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said Dr. Tengbe expressed sympathy to the nation, victims, families and households affected by the deadly Ebola Virus Disease and called on all to fight the disease as \u201cone family, one community and one nation.\u201d He stressed that the virus is real and it kills but could be prevented and treated if noticed and reported early to hospital. Such a proactive move would increase the victims\u2019 chances of survival.<\/p>\n
According to Chief Tengbe, Dr.Tengbe shared the hope that his good gesture will attract the government and others including indigenes of Kailahun District to aid individuals, homes and communities affected by the deadly Ebola Virus Disease.<\/p>\n
\u201cDr. Tengbe loves and cares for his people\u201d Chief Tengbe said, adding that \u201che will always be there for them.\u201d He expressed appreciation for government\u2019s effort so far but urged them \u201cto do more\u201d to save the people of Sierra Leone from the Ebola disease.<\/p>\n
Chief Tengbe also added that he was pleased with Dr Tengbe\u2019s good gesture and referred to his action as that of \u201ca true son of the soil\u201d. He called on his people to practically \u201cdeclare war against the deadly Ebola disease\u201d and assured of the maximum cooperation of his office.<\/p>\n
Dr.Tengbe who lives in the United Kingdom is currently working for the Government of Qatar (Middle East) as Highway Expert and Area Manager for Qatar North and South at the Public Works Authority and holds M.Sc (Infrastructure Planning) and a Ph.D. (Engineering) with distinction both from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.<\/p>\n
