Sierra Leonean Colonel, Alhassan Bangura on 15th July 2014, graduated with a Masters in Strategic Studies with specialty in Military Science from the College of Defence Studies, National Defence University, Peoples Liberation Army, People\u2019s Republic of China. He is amongst 84 senior officers and defence officials from fifty countries to have attended the 32nd Defence and Strategic Studies Course.<\/p>\n

Speaking after his graduation ceremony in China, Col. Bangura said, the \u00a0course \u00a0will largely help in enriching Sierra Leone\u2019s \u00a0military human resource base \u201cwhich is the core to military reformation taking place now globally\u201d He said, he is now better informed on military strategic issues particularly on military reforms and transformation.<\/p>\n

Col. Bangura said, he is taking home \u201cnew ideas on military thinking, Defense Building, Military Leadership, International and National Security Strategies Formulation and Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA)\u201d<\/p>\n

During his stay \u00a0in China, Col. Bangura successfully studied war History and Military Thought, International Security, National Security National Defence and Military Building, Military Strategy, Employment of Military Forces, Leadership Science and Strategic Management, amongst others.<\/p>\n

His presentations on Shaping the Image of the Military in the International Media; Developing Countries\u2019 Expectations on China and Military Strategy of Sierra Leone are said to have featured unique perspectives and deep reflections leaving Chinese and foreign s officers with a profound impression.<\/p>\n

Col. Bangura, prior to departing for the People\u2019s Republic of China, was Battalion Commander in Kabala and Yele; National Contingent Commander For Sierra Leone Reconnaissance Regiment in Darfur Sudan ( UNAMID); Military Assistance to Deputy Defense Minister at Ministry Of Defence; Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) at HQ Joint Force Command Cockeril and Director of Logistics Ministry Of Defense.<\/p>\n

Col. Bangura is a product of Ahmadiyya Secondary School Bo. He attended the Njala University College from 1984 to 1988 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Between 1996 and 1999, he was at Zhejiang University in China, where he graduated with MSc in Agronomy. In 2003, he graduated with MSc in Development Studies from Larenstein University Deventer, The Netherlands.<\/p>\n

He has also gone through the following courses; Junior Command and Staff Course Junior Division from Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Teshie. Ghana; Senior Command \u00a0and Staff Course from Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Nigeria; New Generation Of African Military Leader Course from National Defense University USA.<\/p>\n
