Introducing the Afro Pop Malian singer, the Chief Executive Officer of the International Business Communications Advisory Services and Training [IBCAST], Mr. Peter Tayoung, stated that their organisation is a one stop shop investment company that is working purposely to celebrate Sierra Leone and become a destination for international business.<\/p>\n
He revealed that Salif Keita will be performing alongside giant Sierra Leonean artists including Nasser Ayoub, Kay Man and the Guinean singer, Lama Sidibay among others.<\/p>\n
Speaking for himself, Mr. Salif Keita stated that he has been to Sierra Leone before in 1982 but not on musical concert but on a private visit.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause of the transformation that has taken place in the country, I am in Sierra Leone to celebrate peace, hard work, tranquility and unity,\u201d he maintained.<\/p>\n
He explained that as an albino pop singer he has been nominated four times for the Grammy Award but had not been able to clinch it.<\/p>\n
He maintained that the sufferings that albinos are undergoing in Sierra Leone are common to albinos all over the world.<\/p>\n
He therefore urged Sierra Leoneans to intensify the fight against discrimination of albinos.<\/p>\n
He described Sierra Leone as a jewel when he heard that the country has gained liberty.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019This is the time we should come back and preach peace,\u2018\u2019 he re-echoed and dilated that Sierra Leoneans should give value to their culture.<\/p>\n
Salif Keita described musicians as needles because they prick the consciences of those who listen to their songs. He also described music as a strong weapon that can either bring people together or divide them.<\/p>\n
He stressed that he was in the country to help Sierra Leonean music to move to a higher level.<\/p>\n
He noted that no one can do well in profession he or she does not, and appealed to artists to love their work and love one another.<\/p>\n
The meeting was climaxed by his rendition of one of his melodious acapellas.<\/p>\n
