{"id":65035,"date":"2014-02-04T04:16:08","date_gmt":"2014-02-04T04:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=65035"},"modified":"2014-02-04T04:16:08","modified_gmt":"2014-02-04T04:16:08","slug":"acc-secures-conviction-on-bribery-against-traffic-police-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=65035","title":{"rendered":"ACC secures conviction on bribery against traffic police officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Police Constable 10688 SAMUEL ABASS JAH of the Traffic Division, attached to the Central Police Station in Freetown, was on Wednesday 29 January 2014, convicted on corruption charges relating to bribery contrary to Anti-Corruption Act 2008.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Police Officer 10688 Jah, who pleaded guilty to all three counts, was arrested on 11th July 2013, during a sting operation after the Commission received complaints from the public that the said traffic police officer was harassing and soliciting bribes from commercial motor drivers. On the 11<sup>th<\/sup> July 2013, Constable Jah solicited and accepted an advantage of Fifty Thousand Leones (Le: 50,000) from a taxi driver along Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0The presiding Judge, Hon. Justice M.A. Paul, imposed a fine of Ninety Million Leones (Le: 90,000.000) or alternatively serve three years imprisonment per count on default of payment.
