New England Ville, located at the central west of Freetown, that has more than\u00c2\u00a040,000 people residing in the community are experiencing a serious water crisis said the youth chairman Mathew Bangalie of New England Community Development Organization ( NECDO). \u00c2\u00a0Yesterday Sierra Express Media nabbed an exclusive interview with Bangalie on their present status.\u00c2\u00a0 He said the organization started in 2000 in order to help their people with this water crisis and\u00c2\u00a0added that young and old people are seriously suffering at New England as there is no pipe born water.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
School going children normally sleep at the water site so as to fetch water for their parents before going to school, but that is no longer possible as the community has grown too big for the previous water site that\u00c2\u00a0the youths had developed.<\/p>\n
Bangalie furthermore said that New England Ville is where they have all important offices in Freetown, office like Health and Sanitation, Ministry of Education, Labour and others but they cannot boast of any facility in their area.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
The chairman bitterly complained about Guma Valley Water Company for not coming to their aid.<\/p>\n
Youths have held several meetings with their community elders and other stakeholders concerning this situation but no attention has been paid.\u00c2\u00a0 Bangalie said that they should know that it\u00c2\u00a0was the youths electoral that brought them to the level of the positions they have today.<\/p>\n
Alhaji \u00c2\u00a0Alimamy Fofana a community elder said the water crisis has really created a problem for their children and it has become a usual habit of Guma Valley Water Company to not attend to people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s needs. Water is life and even if they bring the water up to us it means they are not doing it for free, but they are going to get revenue out of it.<\/p>\n
Alhaji furthermore, expressed his bitterness about the conditions they are presently undergoing in their community with the lack of a central health center and a better school system.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
