{"id":63391,"date":"2013-11-26T22:02:53","date_gmt":"2013-11-26T22:02:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=63391"},"modified":"2013-11-26T22:02:53","modified_gmt":"2013-11-26T22:02:53","slug":"waste-management-workers-protest-over-overdue-salaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=63391","title":{"rendered":"Waste management workers protest over overdue salaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Freetown, Nov.26 (SLENA) &#8211;<\/b> Workers of the Freetown Waste Management Company have been without salary for the past three (3) months.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Thursday 21st November 2013, they marched up to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security at New England Ville in the West of Freetown to inform the Minister about their deplorable and desperate situations, having been without salary for the past three (3) months and with no official word from any official of the Management of the Company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to SLENA by one of the disgruntled workers who wanted to remain anonymous, he said notwithstanding several demands made to Management for their salaries, they have still not paid them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He went on to explain that for the past seventeen (17) months the Freetown Waste Management Company (FWMC) have been deducting NASSIT contributions from their monthly salaries but these never reflected on their NASSIT Cards at the NASSIT Headquarters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also included in the protest march were wives of the unpaid workers, especially wives of deceased workers with placards, one of them reads: NO NASSIT, NO INCREMENT, POOR CONDITIONS OF SERVICE, NO MEDICAL, LATE SALARY PAYMENTS, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workers said that they started experiencing this state of affair since the inception of the new Mayor, His Lordship Bode Gibson (in photo).<\/p>\n<p><i>BP\/SLENA<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Stay with Sierra Express Media, for your trusted place in news!<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<hr align=\"center\" size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Freetown, Nov.26 (SLENA) &#8211; Workers of the Freetown Waste Management Company have been without salary for the past three (3) months.
