As a key part of developing \u00a0youth cricket in Sierra Leone, the Kent Cricket Club will be \u201cPairs Cricket\u201d on the 6th-14th September 2013. A new and innovative format focusing on teamwork \u00a0this tournament will be played in Freetown at the Prince of Wales and St. Edwards Schools, Kingtom.<\/p>\n
This historical event will see \u201cpairs cricket\u201d played \u00a0in Sierra Leone for the first time. The club\u2019s recognise the role that pairs cricket plays in engaging players,\u00a0 building confidence and encouraging positive play.\u00a0 The rules for this tournament are very simple, placing the emphasis on fun and fellowship and encouraging young people to take up the game.<\/p>\n
There are six participating teams, all named after individuals who have \u00a0supported the development of cricket in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n
Games will be played on a round robin basis in the group stage, culminating in a grand final and a third place play off.<\/p>\n
UK based Twenty20 Cricket Company, a proud partner of the Kent Cricket Club, has provided 45 medals plus 10 trophies for the tournament. Lime Line, Sierra Leone\u2019s premier internet company, is also supporting the tournament.<\/p>\n

Kent Cricket Club focuses on grassroots development as this is the bedrock towards the development of cricket in any nation. \u00a0The club is passionate and committed to developing cricket among the local population, especially among young people.<\/p>\n
Cricket is an important element in children\u2019s education and rehabilitation and this tournament will help to take the children from the street, engage them and channel their energy and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n
