The briefing held at the Door Restaurant in Queens, New York was an unambiguous reaction by GITP producers to address breaches made by some members of the press at last year\u2019s festival – attended by thousands of reggae and rhythm and blues fans – and to make meaningful changes to help make sure no similar unfavorable incidents never happens again.<\/p>\n

The reception also provided an opportune time for journalists and local media representatives to come together to air concerns, questions, expectations and impediments that could prevent them from freely executing their duties at the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe setting proved to be very informative as it gave other press attendees including myself an opportunity to hear opinions from veterans in the field and get a jumpstart on preparing for the upcoming concert,\u201d said Miz Dee \u2013 a blogger and a television presenter.<\/p>\n

Miz Dee acknowledged the briefing as a breath of fresh air \u201cit was also something new that really has not been done before.\u00a0 Because bringing both sides together specifically for this purpose can help to bridge the gap that sometimes exists between promoters and the press.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, GITP executives seized the moment to announce the confirmation of artists who will be performing at the music festival Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Roy Wilkins Park also in Queens, New York.<\/p>\n

Confirmed artists include multiple rhythm and blues Grammy award-winning Hall of Famer Pattie Labelle, veteran reggae icon Toots Hibbert, Tyrese, Genuine and Tank \u2013 collectively known as TGT, Cocoa Tea, Queen Ifrica, Barrington Levy and Sanchez.<\/p>\n

New York-based promoter Christopher Roberts, CEO of New York City\u2019s GITP said in statement that \u201cwe are absolutely thrilled to have headliner and superlative icon Miss Labelle,\u201d and other artists on Groovin In The Park this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach year we go after the best available talent to satisfy our very demanding New York City music lovers and although this addition has just been made, we are already receiving waves of tremendously positive feedback,\u201d Roberts continued.<\/p>\n

Speaking on popular Reggae Kaleidoscope radio show on WRSU, 88.7 FM at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey GITP publicist Anthony Turner told host Teddy Genesis that the New York Press \u2018Meet & Greet\u2019 was a precursor to a major media launch reception scheduled for early June.<\/p>\n

Turner also said it is likely that GITP CEO Roberts might consider adding African artists to the lineup in the near future.<\/p>\n

The question now is with the wild excitement and spontaneous drama that can happen at music festivals, whether media protocol and rules laid down at the briefing will be strictly adhered?<\/p>\n
