27th<\/sup> April 2013, Bo, Sierra Leone: <\/b>In exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Revised SLAJ Constitution of 2001, the SLAJ Electoral Commission has successfully conducted the national and regional elections of the Women in the Media, Sierra Leone (WIMSAL) on Saturday, 27th<\/sup> April, 2013 in Bo.<\/p>\n

The elections were generally peaceful and orderly and the Commission would like to thank the entire membership of WIMSAL for their cooperation and general comportment. Voter turnout was about 80%.<\/p>\n

The Commission would also like to note that it received one petition from Juliana A. Coker, candidate for the position of Regional Chairperson, North, against Veronica K. Hallowell, also a candidate for the same position on the grounds of her eligibility to contest for the position.<\/p>\n

The Commission looked into the matter and considered all the evidence tendered, in addition to gathering testimonies from concerned delegates in the region.<\/p>\n

Based on the evidence and testimonies it received, the Commission decided that the candidacy of Veronica K. Hallowell runs contrary to the WIMSAL Constitution, and is therefore not eligible to vote or be voted for in this election.<\/p>\n

No petition was received against any name on the voters\u2019 register.<\/p>\n

Following the successful conduct of all the elections, the result of each election was counted and the process was observed by representatives of each candidate.<\/p>\n
