{"id":54654,"date":"2013-04-04T01:45:27","date_gmt":"2013-04-04T01:45:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=54654"},"modified":"2013-04-04T01:45:27","modified_gmt":"2013-04-04T01:45:27","slug":"world-vision-rescues-blama-gbanie-fire-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=54654","title":{"rendered":"World Vision rescues Blama Gbanie fire victims in Sierra Leone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">World Vision Sierra Leone one the leading child welfare non-organisations in the country has recently rescued fire victims of\u00a0 Blama Gbanie in the Bumpeh Chiefdom Bo District.\u00a0 <em>(Photo: Some of the donated items)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The village of 33 houses was gutted by a fire outbreak in January 2013 that left 11 houses in the middle of the village burnt to ashes destroying properties worth millions of Leones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0The inferno that broke out exactly while the village people were about to return from their farms in the evening engulfed all the personal property of the owners and even their children.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_54657\" style=\"width: 456px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/One-of-the-burnt-houses.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54657\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54657\" alt=\"One of the burnt houses\" src=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/One-of-the-burnt-houses.jpg\" width=\"446\" height=\"336\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-54657\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of the burnt houses<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">World Vision in their strive to help the poor and the needy in the country donated household and livelihood planting materials, learning and hygiene materials, construction\u00a0 materials and a hand pump.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The donated items included 66 bags of household materials, 11 items of building materials, 23 places of education and hygiene promotion materials to support children and six bags of fertilizer to boost the livelihood of farmers.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_54658\" style=\"width: 457px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Some-of-the-donated-items-to-the-fire-victims-by-World-Vision.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54658\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54658\" alt=\"Some of the donated items\" src=\"http:\/\/sem.lamtech.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Some-of-the-donated-items-to-the-fire-victims-by-World-Vision.jpg\" width=\"447\" height=\"336\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-54658\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Some of the donated items<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Joseph K Kposowa Principal Bumpeh High School and Chairman of the occasion said that \u201ctoday is not the same as when we first came here.\u201d On that first day of their coming, he said all the women around were \u201ctight-lipped\u201d unlike today where in the \u201cwomen are dancing.\u201d But the venture he told would not gain credence if \u201cwe do not support what World Vision is doing today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sheku T Sovula the Chief of the Village encouraged beneficiaries to embrace World Vision Sierra Leone adding \u201cLet us put hands under those giving us help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">World Vision Sierra Leone Base Manager in Bo Momoh Juana summarized the whole day as \u201cbitter-sweet.\u201d His Non Governmental Organization he said works based on Development, Advocacy and Emergency and Relief and was moved by the harrowing pictures of the incident of the fire burning in the village.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He stated that the interest of children \u201ccomes paramount to us.\u201d And this he noted was the reason World Vision was intervening.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He cautioned beneficiaries of the donation to ensure that they observe good building rules when constructing their houses, kitchens and toilets, \u201cYou have to put procedures in place to prevent fire accidents in the future,&#8221; World Vision, has provided the materials and you need to do the building,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The people he said should adopt \u201cspatial building as this village will not develop.\u201d And the development of the village he said was on \u201ceach and every person in this village.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Representing the Office of National Security Sahr Mafindoh also said that fire was not the only threat to security but also Cholera.
