The Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has extended an official invitation to Sierra Leone\u2019s President, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma (in photo) as a Guest of Honour at the Dubai World Cup Races scheduled to take place on Saturday 30th March, 2013.<\/p>\n
In an acceptance letter addressed to His Highness the Prime Minister, President Koroma wrote: \u201cIt is my fervent hope that the occasion will offer yet another opportunity for us to further strengthen the friendly and bilateral relations between our two countries and peoples.\u201d<\/p>\n
President Koroma is also expected to hold meetings with the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other dignitaries in the capital Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n
According to the World\u2019s free encyclopedia, Wikipedia, the Dubai World Cup Race is a horse race held annually on the last Saturday in March since 1996 and contested at the Meydan Racecourse.\u00a0The race is operated through the Emirates Horse Racing Authority (EHRA) and its one of the world’s leading thoroughbred breeding and racing operations. The race carries a total combined prize of $ 27.25 million and it has a purse of USD 10 million since 2010, making it the world’s richest horse race.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, an advanced party comprising Special Adviser to H.E the President, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo and other senior Government officials arrived in Dubai Wednesday, 27th March 2013, ahead of President Koroma\u2019s arrival on Friday, 29th March, 2013.<\/p>\n
Other members of the President\u2019s delegation include Dr. Mathew Saumara Kamara, Foreign and International Cooperation Minister, Mr. E.B Osho Coker, Secretary to the President, NATCOM\u2019s Siray Timbo (Mr.), to name but a few.\u00a0 Sierra Leone\u2019s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and also accredited to the UAE, H.E Wusu Munu is expected in Dubai shortly.<\/p>\n
President Koroma and three other African Heads of State are currently in the United States on a three-day official working visit, on the invitation of US President Barrack Obama. According to an earlier White House Press Release, these leaders are expected to hold discussions on strengthening democratic institutions across sub-Saharan Africa, and building on Africa’s democratic progress to generate increased economic opportunities and expanded trade and investment.<\/p>\n
