From experiences gathered over the years, there have been many stereotypes of manipulators when it is time for the elective congress showdown. It takes many forms. One of its forms involves the use of sports journalists to broadcast inciting and hate messages in ploys to divide the delegates\u2019 camps using subtle political gimmicks.<\/p>\n
Whilst FIFA\u2019s position clearly prohibits political interference and peddling of influence using politics, the 2008 elective congress staged at the Miatta Conference Center, in Freetown \u2013 appeared with distinct contrast to such challenging standpoint as the vote deciders \u2013 the delegates succeeded in parading the leading candidates \u2013 Mr. Nahim Khadi and Dr. Foday Bangura under the brands of political emblems of the Sierra Leone People\u2019s Party (SLPP) and the ruling All People\u2019s Congress (APC).<\/p>\n
As elections are approaching once again, loyalists in the various camps have begun influencing sports journalists to lead the smear campaign once again. Bad profiling of contesting candidates is on the floor dragging daggers with the truths.<\/p>\n
Amidst this mudslinging position the various camps have begun swaying the fact that the FA is long stranded of having the right candidate that would take the level of footballing game to the apex \u2013 in the country at a sub-regional excellence.<\/p>\n
What is of utmost concern here is for the sports journalists to reflect the track records of Nahim Khadi, the outgoing FA President who won as a popular APC candidate. He failed to impress the media and instead put on an insulting attitude and succeeded in graduating a row between him and coaches, Ex-footballers, Administrators, delegates and all who failed to support him in his second term bid for the FA presidency.<\/p>\n
Politicizing the forthcoming FA elective congress would not be a good thing on the backnotes of the fact that the world\u2019s football governing body, FIFA is abhorrent of politics having a mainstay in the limits of sporting activities.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ll keep eyes on such development and God willing we\u2019ll not hesitate to name and shame politicians that might want to influence the outcome of the forthcoming elective congress.<\/p>\n
