Director General of the Human Resource Management Office, Ernest Suru has said in Freetown that they are working towards improving a better service delivery system in the country by empowering the middle level manpower resource.<\/p>\n
He said already the country has had 13% of professionals and Technicians, adding that the public sector salary scale is not attractive and this has been the reason why the private sector is sweeping handfuls of graduates because they\u2019ve got attractive salaries to offer.<\/p>\n
He said the World Bank and the Country\u2019s Finance Ministry will conduct a marketing survey on selected areas of jobs like Human Resource, Agriculture Officers, Procurement; Budget Officers, Research Officers, Medical Doctors, State Registered Nurses\u2019 scale of salaries and other benefits will be compared to that of the private sector.<\/p>\n
\u00a0He said the European Union has completed a staff training session for one hundred civil servants on how to do their work properly, adding that they have also succeeded in securing a loan from the World Bank to Develop the Civil Service with specific indicators.<\/p>\n
Ernest Suru said Sierra Leoneans are the lowest paid civil servants in Africa with little or no promotions and are being recruited without using connections into positions of trust.<\/p>\n
He said the HRMO is working towards having a good civil service in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n
