{"id":37055,"date":"2012-03-22T02:29:20","date_gmt":"2012-03-22T02:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=37055"},"modified":"2012-03-22T02:29:20","modified_gmt":"2012-03-22T02:29:20","slug":"african-petroleum-awarded-exploration-permit-in-cote-divoire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=37055","title":{"rendered":"African Petroleum awarded Exploration Permit in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">African Petroleum Corporation Limited (NSX: AOQ) (\u201cAfrican Petroleum\u2019\u2019 or the \u201cCompany\u201d), a West African focused oil and gas exploration company, is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, African Petroleum C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire Limited (\u201cAfrican Petroleum C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire\u201d), has entered into an agreement with the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nationale d\u2019Op\u00e9rations P\u00e9troli\u00e8res de la C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire (\u201cPETROCI\u201d) and the Republic of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire (the \u201cState of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire\u201d) to acquire one offshore exploration permit covering block CI\u2010509 (\u201cPermit\u201d) as shown in the map below.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Key points:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>African Petroleum Cote d\u2019Ivoire entered into an agreement with PETROCI and the State of Cote d\u2019Ivoire to acquire exploration rights in one offshore block: CI\u2010509.\u00a0 \u00a0 The Permit is situated in the Western Offshore area of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, with a total surface area of 1,091.37 sq km.<\/li>\n<li>African Petroleum C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire will be the Operator with a 90% interest in the Permit.\u00a0 \u00a0The remaining 10% is owned by PETROCI.<\/li>\n<li>This is the Company\u2019s second award of a block, offshore Cote d\u2019Ivoire.\u00a0 \u00a0On 19 December 2011, African Petroleum was awarded the exploration rights over Block CI\u2010513.<\/li>\n<li>African Petroleum C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire\u2019s exploration programme will target deep water Upper Cretaceous submarine fans in Cote d\u2019Ivoire which are considered to have similar high impact potential as discoveries in the Jubilee field, Ghana, Narina\u20101, Liberia, the Jupiter and Mercury discoveries, Sierra Leone.<\/li>\n<li>A 3D seismic programme over Blocks CI\u2010513 and CI\u2010509 is expected to commence in mid\u2010April 2012.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Frank Timis, Non\u2010Executive Chairman, comments \u201cAfrican Petroleum is already one of the largest net exploration acreage holders in the West African transform margin focussed on the newly emerging and highly successful Upper Cretaceous exploration fairway.\u00a0 \u00a0 Together with the earlier award of Block CI\u2010513, this award of CI\u2010509, underlines African Petroleum\u2019s commitment to building a high grade exploration portfolio in the proven oil basin of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire and accelerating exploration in the region.
