{"id":36991,"date":"2012-03-21T13:02:54","date_gmt":"2012-03-21T13:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=36991"},"modified":"2012-03-21T13:02:54","modified_gmt":"2012-03-21T13:02:54","slug":"sierra-leone-high-commission-visits-aust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=36991","title":{"rendered":"Sierra Leone High Commission visits AUST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Staff of the Sierra Leone High Commission in Abuja on Friday March 16<\/span><sup style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">th<\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a02012 visited the Sierra Leonean Post Graduate Students Studying Masters in Petroleum Engineering at the World Class African University of Science and Technology in Abuja (AUST) , Federal Republic of Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The Students were very happy upon seeing the Sierra Leone Embassy Staff led by His Excellency Henry Olufumi Macauley. After fruitful discussions with the Students who explained some of their problems that were taken to consideration, the High Commissioner encouraged them to keep the candle burning and exercise patience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">It could be recalled that, in May 2010, the Sierra Leone High Commission submitted a proposal to the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa {DTCA} of the Nigeria Ministry of Foreign Affairs for funding a project \u201cCapacity Building\u201d for twenty [20] Sierra Leonean Post Graduate Students in Petroleum Engineering for strategic Senior Management roles in Energy, Oil and Gas Industry in Sierra Leone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">However, the Nigerian Government\u00a0\u00a0approved the funding for twelve [12] Post Graduate Students in Petroleum Engineering at the African University of Science and Technology {AUST} from the Nigerian Technical Cooperation Fund {NTCF} at the African Development Bank {ADB}.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The Sierra Leone Ministry of Education Science and Technology advertised the Course programe and many Students applied and they were shortlisted. In the selection process, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology brought down conditions such as considering First Class and Second Class Masters Degree Holders. As such, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology finally selected the best twelve [12] Post Graduate Students to pursue the Course. Coincidentally, Edwin Sam-Mbomah Jnr., son of the Deputy High Commissioner, Maj. Gen. [Rtd.] Edwin Sam-Mbomah of the Sierra Leone High Commission in Abuja was among the best Students, having submitted with a First Class.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The twelve [12] Post Graduate Students were divided into two [2] Batches of which the first batch of six [6] started on January 9<sup>th<\/sup>, 2012 whilst the second batch is on the waiting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Meanwhile, the Six Students are as follows; Edwin Sam-Mbomah Jnr., Arnold Warren Nottidge, Yusuf A. Lahai, Desmond Allie, James Koker and Harold A. Kallon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>By: Alusine M.
