{"id":34366,"date":"2012-01-27T00:53:11","date_gmt":"2012-01-27T00:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=34366"},"modified":"2012-01-27T00:53:11","modified_gmt":"2012-01-27T00:53:11","slug":"office-of-the-government-spokesman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=34366","title":{"rendered":"Office of the government spokesman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Thursday 26<sup>th<\/sup> January 2012 &#8211;<\/strong> It has come to the attention of the <strong>Ministry of Energy and Water Resources<\/strong> that some sections of the press both local and international have been publishing stories that are not only misleading but also totally untrue about the state of Government\u2019s effort of electrifying the Capital, Freetown. \u00a0A case in point is the 6<sup>th<\/sup> January publication of the African Confidential. \u00a0In this article a lot of untrue insinuations were reported. \u00a0The Ministry therefore wants to put the record straight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That in March last year the Government constructed a <strong>16.5MW thermal plant for the supply of electricity to the East End of the City<\/strong> contrary to the suggestion made in the African Confidential that the citizens in the East End of the Country who overwhelmingly voted for Dr Ernest Bai Koroma are without power supply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Also, a mention in the report that a contract has been signed with Joule Africa for the expansion of the first phase of Bumbuna is not true. The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources on behalf of the Government signed an MOU with Joule Africa. This MOU sets out the principles under which both parties should operate and is focused on progressing and delivering of a bankable feasibility studies. No Contract has been awarded to any investor for the setting up of Bumbuna II.
