\u201cI have not told you that I was in the midst of people, Mr. Samura,\u201d he said. \u201cI said I was in the middle of something, please call me later.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bowenson Philips said such is indeed a misinterpretation and therefore makes not true at all.<\/p>\n
He also told Sierra Express Media that insinuations that his phone was \u2018switched off\u2019 are completely untrue.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am using a two SIM phone, and most times people complain calling me but can not get me. Some even accused me of switching my phone off,\u201d the Council big man restated.<\/p>\n
It could be recalled that following leakages that the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) intends arresting Mayor Herbert George Williams, he (the Mayor) mysteriously disappeared and was reportedly docked at shores of theRepublicofGambiawhere he now takes rest; dodging alleged 42 counts corruption indictment against him.<\/p>\n
It is a fact that the ACC has prepared 42 count charges of corruption and corruption related offences against the Mayor and cohorts.<\/p>\n
A source at City Council has disclosed to this press that preceding Mayor Williams\u2019s unofficial\/mysterious disappearance; there was growing disapproval from hundreds of workers, who unbearably asked for payment of salaries owed them.<\/p>\n
Workers have threatened strike action should salaries owed them not be paid by the end of November 2011.<\/p>\n
Leaks have it also that days to ACC\u2019s arresting and charging of the Mayor on account of his involvement in corrupt practices, the information was leaked to him (the Mayor), and with no delay \u2018he was off\u2019 to Banjul\/Gambia where he now takes rest.<\/p>\n
Even though top bras of the Freetown City Council insist Mayor Herbert has traveled toSouth Africaon an official function, the President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), who presently coversGambia\u2019s elections, has confirmed on Facebook that the Mayor is inBanjul.<\/p>\n
The ACC commissioner, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, has on the other hand confirmed that Mayor Williams, and other workers of the Freetown City Council, await corruption charges.<\/p>\n
Our reporter was at Freetown City Council and was told by disgruntled workers that, up until the disappearance of the Mayor, there was no fund for the printing of market tickets to enable market keepers to collect market dues.<\/p>\n
\u201cBra,\u201d a worker who asked for his name not to be mentioned said, \u201ctoo many billions have been fleeced by top bras of the Council. \u00a0As for me, I have worked months and have not received any salary.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is yet to be confirmed whether Mayor Williams\u2019s abandoning of office is to the knowledge of certain senior officials at the Freetown City Council.<\/p>\n
