Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), in collaboration with government, through the Ministry of Trade and Industry, organized a forum to create an interface dialogue between the Private Sector and international investors for partnership.<\/p>\n
The forum saw Ministries of government showcasing business potentials to foreign as well as national investors expressing business interests in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n
The forum also brought to light growth in the communications industry, with special reference to the recently pronounced Fibre optic development which is aimed at improving Internet connectivity, international telephone calls, including video and audio recordings, respectively.\u00a0 In his remarks, Ambassador Raymond who doubles as Head of the European Delegation reiterated the importance of trade and said it helps reduce a country\u2019s unemployment and poverty rate.<\/p>\n
Reflection must be drawn to contributions of the European Union in the area of change.<\/p>\n
The forum outlined the goodies and betterment assuredly hoped for should investors come to do business inSierra Leone.<\/p>\n
It could be recalled that a similar forum was held inLondonwhere international business tycoons where shown the potential investment possibilities inSierra Leone.<\/p>\n
The forum was practically guided by the Agenda for Change policy, a call once made by the President of Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n
The Agenda for Change provides the basis for government to improve on the country.<\/p>\n
The achievement at the forum should ring a sound melody to our investors.<\/p>\n
The need to re-brandSierra Leoneis to attract foreign investors thus proving to them that the country is enjoying absolute peace and that there is potential for investment formed the core of the forum.<\/p>\n
In his statement, President Koroma focused on three areas:<\/p>\n
1. Leading reformer in the ECOWAS<\/address>\n2. Effective promotion of investment opportunities<\/address>\n3. Development of infrastructure.<\/address>\nHe emphasized the landing of the fibre optic cable, the event he said occurred three weeks ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will make communication easy and cheaper,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
