The Director of Public Sector Reform Unit,\u00a0 Dr. Julius S. Sandy (in photo) has warned newly posted District Officers that their tasks ahead are enormous and that they must exercise teamwork, commitment, and prudent leadership to accomplish said tasks.<\/p>\n
Director Sandy pronounced this warning while chairing a one-day workshop for District Officers past Tuesday 19th<\/sup> at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown.<\/p>\n Describing District Officers as \u201cGeneral Keeper of the House\u201d he pointed out that they are filling a vacuum which used to impede central government coordination of Local Administration.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026considerable efforts and resources have been invested into resuscitating District Officers, but considerable efforts and resources are still to be invested\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The PSRU Director admonished that the published duties and responsibilities of District Officers are vital resources that have been made accessible.<\/p>\n \u00a0The working manual which is outlined in ten (10) subtitles, he said, frames District Officers role and relationship with other stakeholders.<\/p>\n \u201cSince government adoption of the policy of decentralization,\u201d Director Sandy emphasized, \u201ccompetition, rivalries and jealousies over administrative preserves have been resulting among districts actors.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n And being that District Officers are authoritative drawers of government\u2019s attention, he warned them that mutual respect, understanding and spirit of cooperation must be ensured among them and Heads of Departments, Agencies and Local Councils.<\/p>\n Speaking to Sierra Express Media, Julius Sandy justified his stern warning to newly posted District Officers on the basis that they are assuming duty at a time government is pursuing comprehensive public sector Reform Agenda.<\/p>\n \u201cWith their sincerity and hard work, a public sector that works for all could be effected\u201d, he concluded.<\/p>\n By Momoja Lappia<\/em><\/p>\n Stay with Sierra Express Media, for your trusted place in news!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The Director of Public Sector Reform Unit,\u00a0 Dr. Julius S.
