CCACN Sports and Pickering Advisory Committee on Diversity teamup to improve the active lifestyles of multiculturalism in Durham.

July 23: TORONTO, ON – CCACN SPORTS has announced the formation of a long-term partnership with the Pickering Advisory Committee on Diversity, which has committed to further engagement on equality, for all families and children on August 5th<\/sup> & 6th<\/sup>, 2011 through a programme of sport, for social development including community leaders\u2019 exhibition game and mass participation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Community sports festivals in the game plan<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In announcing the partnership, Ammar Kamara, Canadian Cup of African Caribbean Nations Sports Organization President said, \u201cCCACN Sports is committed to forming the best partnerships for children, families and their communities. We want to work with partners like the Pickering Advisory Committee on Diversity, who shares our passion for the development of fairness. Partnerships must have tangible benefits for both parties, and be measurable against all means. We work hard to make sure that clear results are at the core of our agreements with our corporate donors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Kirk Mark, Chair of Pickering Advisory Committee on Diversity and President of The Canadian Alliance of Black Educators, \u201cgrassroots and developmental level activities were identified as one of the key social investment areas in Durham some time ago, and we are excited about this new idea of bringing ethnocultural groups together, with an opportunity to enhance the social benefits to our children, youth and families.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On August 6th, CCACN, in a collaboration with community development partners like: Pickering Soccer Club and Advisory Committee on Diversity-City of Pickering, will host a community sports festival theme: Celebrating Diversity in Durham through Sports<\/em><\/strong>, with anticipation of more than 20 ethnocultural societies and some 100 young learners, engage in an exciting celebration of cultures .<\/span><\/p>\n

The festival, with a huge soccer component, aimed to encourage play and inspire healthy lifestyle choices amongst families and children.\u00a0 Activities will include soccer tournaments and skills competition by residents of Durham and parts of other municipalities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Similar local sport festivals are planned in three other provinces over the year, and CCACN Sports will facilitate aspects of CCACN’s Coaching Boys to Men<\/em> program with activities that encourage positive play at cr\u00e8ches around the country and internationally, as part of early childhood development and global citizenship initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n
