The Vicar of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion St Matthews Church, Abuja, Reverend Canon Chima Okorie has in his sermon, marking the Golden Jubilee (50 years) of Sierra Leone, in Abuja, sent a message to President Ernest Bai Koroma, to not only lead his flocks to the promised land as he promised, but also to tell Mr. President, the golden jubilee has rolled away poverty, hardship, humiliation and backwardness.\u00a0\u00a0 (Photo: The Man of God; Rev. \u201cTell Mr. President, this new era should not see him handling the business of Governance as usual, he should be vigilant to judiciously lead his flock as a Shepherd, straightened his assistants who want to go astray and sack those who fail to perform\u201d.<\/p>\n

r - HE Macauley, Nigeria's Foreign Minister, his wife, Rakie Macarthy, Mrs. Sam-Mbomah, Deputy High Commissioner Sam Mbomah, and other Sierra Leoneans<\/p><\/div>\n

Delivering his sermon based on John 10:11 titled \u201cthe Good Shepherd\u201d the Celebrant said; the shepherd was a familiar sight to the pastoral peoples of ancient times. He stayed with his flock both day and night (“Luke 2:8Luke 2:8), led the flock to fresh pastures each morning (“John 10:3″John 10:4John 10:3-4), carefully and tenderly watched over each member during the day, and ensured that all were safely within the sheepfold when evening came.<\/p>\n

President Koroma should be fully equipped with the Grace of God, like a curved staff for guiding the sheep, a rod used as a weapon, and a sling (“Ps. 23:4Psalm 23:4; 1 Samuel 17:40), fully prepared to defend the flock against predators such as bears or lions (exploiters& Saboteurs).<\/p>\n

Reverend Canon Chima Okorie said that can be achieved through fervent prayers to Almighty God. He also called on Sierra Leoneans (Flocks) to be law abiding and be cooperative for the good of the nation (Sierra Leone).<\/p>\n

Addressing a cross section of Sierra Leoneans and members of the Congregation including Nigeria\u2019s Foreign Minister Hon. Odein Ajumogobia and former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sierra Leone\u2019s High Commissioner H.E. Henry O Macauley thanked the Nigerian Government and people for their hospitality and the Church for accepting the request to celebrate the Country\u2019s 50th<\/sup> Independence Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) in the form of thanksgiving.<\/p>\n

\u00a0He gave brief historical ties of the two countries (Sierra Leone\u00a0and Nigeria) and spoke on some of the virtues of Sierra Leone and recent gains made by the President Ernest Bai Koroma Government.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Sierra Leoneans from all walks of life converged at the Plot 308 Diplomatic zone Central Area Chancery of the Sierra Leone High Commission, where they were well treated to delicious Sierra Leonean food and very iced cold drinks.<\/p>\n

To make mention of the generally spoken Lingua Franca (Krio) used as a medium of communication during the occasion need not be overemphasized.<\/p>\n

Several speakers including Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Trade Commissioner M. B. Daramy, All People\u2019s Congress Women\u2019s leader Ms. Elizabeth Mans, etc spoke in response to High Commissioner HE Henry O Macauley\u2019s statement, in which among many other issues he made mentioned was the expression his happiness regarding the comportment of Sierra Leoneans through – out the federation.<\/p>\n
