So in this glorious liberated land,<\/address>\n
You\u2019ve fine experiences gained<\/address>\n
That crave; for betterment untamed<\/address>\n
We\u2019ll grow stronger in leaps and bounds<\/address>\n
That\u2019s why I\u2019m sweetly glad.<\/address>\n

\u00a0The West\u2019ll yet repent the havoc played in countries miles so far<\/p>\n

The bitterness that still remains the colour of that skin.<\/address>\n
And we shall proudly bare it all, that good old chocolate film<\/address>\n
That covers e\u2019en the pride we own, that dark old chocolate skin;<\/address>\n
That bore the strokes that split and made our blood flow free,<\/address>\n
\u2018Tis over now; our freedom we\u2019ve gained<\/address>\n
So good old Bill is helpless now<\/address>\n
We must be sweetly glad for the triumphs we\u2019ve gained.\u00a0<\/address>\n

We must rejoice for time has healed the wounds,<\/address>\n

When Salone shall stand so firm; the World shall recognise<\/address>\n
Our firm resolves and we shall overcome,<\/address>\n
For this I\u2019m sweetly glad.<\/address>\n

I\u2019m sweetly glad those ties that bind and reconcile our rifts,<\/address>\n
Strengthening the bonds which makes us strong<\/address>\n
Alas! we\u2019ll ne\u2019er go wrong<\/address>\n
For fifty years through toil and sweat and agony within,<\/address>\n
We\u2019ll raise that flag and sing that song<\/address>\n
\u2018Cause High we Exalt Thee\u2019 reigns!<\/address>\n
And Oh what clever folks we\u2019ve had<\/address>\n
In the Fyle and Akar duo<\/address>\n
Who for the Anthem of the Braves shall ne\u2019er our shores depart<\/address>\n
So now I know I\u2019m sweetly glad our heroes never die.<\/address>\n

That we may look back and learn from the ugliness inspired<\/address>\n
By the greedy, reckless havoc causing minds<\/address>\n
That brought Salone to her knees;<\/address>\n

Accursed be those who fail to see the wrongs they\u2019ve always done<\/address>\n
In bringing a nation to her knees in war and strife and pain<\/address>\n
I\u2019m sweetly glad its over now and we\u2019re in the right lane.<\/address>\n

Shall sound in mountains high<\/address>\n
And rivers deep shall join the throng to echo in our song<\/address>\n

No slaves to batter to the west for guns that shoot us dead<\/address>\n

He made us proud and tall, and Bai Bureh is hailed from on high<\/address>\n
He made our foes jump high;<\/address>\n
Yet we adore the graciousness Mammy Yoko displayed,<\/address>\n
For this I\u2019m sweetly glad.<\/address>\n

Oh Sierra Leone you\u2019re fifty now, I wonder what aches and pains<\/p>\n

Bled you to the corner when you where in pain<\/address>\n
Yet \u2018Mother Earth\u2019 won\u2019t let you die though you were in the wrong lane<\/address>\n
Tighten your belts regain your strides<\/address>\n
The race is won, the years of calm and joy are still ahead<\/address>\n
So all our heroes dead and alive shall join in harmony<\/address>\n
To sing our \u2018Happy Birthday\u2019 song<\/address>\n
And\u00a0 we\u2019ll all be sweetly glad.<\/address>\n

Now that our \u2018SHIP\u2019 is captained well,<\/p>\n

The Lord has given His gracious gift<\/address>\n
To Salone on Her fiftieth year; \u00a0\u00a0<\/address>\n
That our children may boastfully tell<\/address>\n
Our past struggles far and near;<\/address>\n
