Ghanaian all time best, Abedi \u2018Pele\u2019 Ayew (in photo), has called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Cameroonian Issa Hayatou to quit his post and make way for younger football stakeholders that will take the affairs of Africa\u2019s football to a higher level.<\/p>\n
Two years ago Abedi Pele supported Hayatou\u2019s re-election, but was beside the FIFA boss Sepp Blatter for FIFA presidency in 2002.\u00a0 Today Sierra Express Media understands Abedi had issued a sarcastic scold against the CAF boss accusing him of hijacking CAF.<\/p>\n
Abedi 47, who was named as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004 has queried the way CAF\u2019s sponsorship money is used, insisting it is worthless winning the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.<\/p>\n
Abedi talking to Africa Watch Magazine said \u201cIf you are old, 65 or 70, pave the way for the young ones who have fresh ideas to better manage the game,\u201d<\/p>\n
The CAF boss will turn 65 in August and has played his part in the continent\u2019s top game for 23 years, however the legend says they must not be allowed to \u201chijack the game in Africa and think that it\u2019s their own\u201d.<\/p>\n
The three time African best also noted the Africa Cup of Nations is now worthless due to the fact there is no prize money attached to the winning nation in Africa.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy the most you win is an empty trophy, players are desperate to win it but there is nothing to show for it.\u00a0 What is CAF using our sponsorship monies for?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
