Sierra Leone\u2019s Speaker of Parliament denies appointing leader of the Libyan Jamahiriya and founder of the Third Universal theory locally known as \u2018Green Book,\u2019 Muammar Al-Gadaffi, as special Honorary Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

It is a fact that Parliamentarians formerly bestowed a foreigner, Muammar Gadaffi, who virtually has no constituency and did not meet criteria set aside in the 1991 constitution, as Honorary Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

Disappointing though is refutation by the Speaker of Parliament; Justice Abel Strong that Gadaffi\u2019s Parliamentary appointment was never endorsed by Parliament.<\/p>\n

It must be noted however that following the appointment of Gadaffi as Sierra Leone\u2019s Honorary Member of Parliament, El- Haj Umaru Fofanah of the BBC, in his radio reportage, affirmatively confirmed Parliamentary appointment of the Libyan leader.<\/p>\n

The APC killer Parliamentarian, Muammar Gadaffi, few days past, vouched crushing protesters demanding his removal from power.<\/p>\n

That very recently, troops loyal to Muammar Gadaffi attacked and killed over 700 Libyans that have called for his unconditional removal.<\/p>\n

Reflection must be drawn to serialized condemnations of APC\u2019s appointment of world\u2019s notable revolutionary\/radical as Honorary Member of Parliament<\/p>\n

In the Sierra Leone 1991 constitution, it is stated glaring in section 75 page 64 that qualifications for Member of Parliament status cut across the following: person must have been a Sierra Leonean citizen, have attained the age of twenty- one, is an elector whose name is on a register of electors under the franchised and electoral Registration Act of Parliament and is able to speak and read English with a degree of proficiency sufficient to enable him to take active part in the proceedings in Parliament and shall be qualified for election as much as a Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

A thorough examination of the contents in Sierra Leone\u2019s 1991 constitution confirmed there has been no indication and reference to the coined up \u2018Honorary Member of Parliament\u2019 title bestowed the Libyan leader.<\/p>\n

The appointment of Muammar Gadaffi, according constitutional observation, seemed violates the laws of this country.<\/p>\n

Public\u2019s observations indicate that Sierra Leone\u2019s Parliament, beyond doubt, betrays trust of the electorates due to its unlawful appoint of Muammar Gadaffi as Honorary Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

Sources say that the Sierra Leone Parliament, in January of 2009, convened an emergency meeting to unanimously appointment Muammar Gadaffi as a Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

That Gadaffi\u2019s appointment triggered minds of certain Parliamentarians, who for the sake of national pride, believe it was wrong of the government and of Parliament to respectively make Gadaffi Honorary Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

Gadaffi, who now kills his own people, has had tainted and uncalled for human rights records.<\/p>\n

Speculations have it that Gadaffi\u2019s hasty appointment as Sierra Leone\u2019s Honorary Member of Parliament came owing to the dollars he promised to lavish at politicians.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere is our national pride Mama Salone?\u201d a market woman fumed.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan ruthless conducts of Al- Gadaffi not smear this country\u2019s hard earned democratic reputation?\u201d<\/p>\n

To Sierra Express Media, the answer to the question as asked above, is apparently an affirmative \u2018yes\u2019.<\/p>\n

Sierra Leone\u2019s image in relation to Gadafi\u2019s Parliamentary appointment has had denting highlights on pages of both the local and international media.<\/p>\n

Unconfirmed information reveals that faces of Parliamentarians that attended the session to appoint Gadaffi appeared joyful after appointing him as Honorary Member of Parliament; \u2026 was passed onto persons in attendance at the emergency session then.<\/p>\n
