Sierra Leoneans in London over the weekend took time off their tight schedules to rub shoulders with each other in what has been widely seen as one of the finest Sierra Leonean social gatherings in the United Kingdom in recent times.\u00a0 (Photo: Time to boogie, all dance to APC)<\/em><\/p>\n

Organised by the Women\u2019s Wing of the All People\u2019s Congress (APC) UK\/Northern Ireland Branch, the fund-raising dance at the Lambeth Academy, South East London, attracted Sierra Leoneans not only in London, but other cities in the United Kingdom with a significant presence coming from Bristol and Reading.<\/p>\n

Kadie Buya Kamara, Women's Wing Leader<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cWhat more could we have ever wished for than such a massive turn out which by all indications is bound to project the image of the country in positive light,\u201d said Women\u2019s Wing Leader Kadie Buya Kamara, who disclosed that the show is part of their planned activities to boost the country\u2019s 50th<\/sup> Jubilee Anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n

Buya said proceeds of the show will go towards providing logistics and other basic needs of the Ola During Children\u2019s Accident & Emergency Department at the Princess Maternity Children Hospital (PCMH).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to mark Sierra Leone\u2019s 50th<\/sup> Jubilee Anniversary with such a memorable achievement for the children of Sierra Leone who are our future leaders,\u201d said Women\u2019s Wing leader Kadie Buya Kamara.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a remarkable national venture that we must support for the future of our children tomorrow \u2013 that is why we had to turn out in numbers,\u201d said Aminata Kamara.<\/p>\n

Chairlady Kumba Momoh with other executive members<\/p><\/div>\n

APC UK\/Northern Ireland Branch Chairlady Kumba Momoh said as a branch they will do everything possible to boost the President\u2019s Agenda For Change<\/em><\/strong> programmes especially on the health sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President means well for our country \u2013 he has initiated the free health care for our mothers and children which is quite unprecedented in the history of our country; therefore we must be seen to be complimenting his efforts,\u201d Momoh said.<\/p>\n

Momoh praised her branch\u2019s Women\u2019s Wing for what she described as a laudable national venture and called for more support from Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora to boost the country back home.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Kadie Buya welcomed guests after being introduced by the APC UK Branch Secretary General Tamba Opel Sumana.<\/p>\n

The presence of Sierra Leone\u2019s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom\/Northern Ireland Edward Mohamed Turay and his Deputy Tamba Mansa Ngegba and wife Nora Ngegba as well as the Chairman of the People\u2019s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) John Komeh and a representative of the Sierra Leone People\u2019s Party (SLPP) Beatrice Sewu boosted the programme.<\/p>\n
