{"id":20075,"date":"2011-02-26T15:10:17","date_gmt":"2011-02-26T20:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=20075"},"modified":"2011-02-26T15:10:17","modified_gmt":"2011-02-26T20:10:17","slug":"eleven-jss-and-sss-students-benefit-from-dr-marda-mustaphas-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=20075","title":{"rendered":"Eleven JSS and SSS Students Benefit from Dr Marda Mustapha\u2019s Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Students and parents in Peje West Chiefdom, Kailahun District were in jubilant mood on Wednesday February 25, 2011 as 11 deserving students of Saint John\u2019s Junior Secondary School and Methodist Agricultural Secondary School in Bunumbu received scholarships donated by Dr Marda Mustapha. (in photo).\u00a0 The ceremony was attended by students of both schools and a cross section of members of the Bunumbu community. Madam Jamie Kpange, a community activist who lobbied Dr Mustapha to make the donation was on hand to formally distribute the scholarships to the students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In her speech to the gathering, Mrs. Kpange extolled the virtues of education while lamenting the lack of resources available to the students. She said it always pains her whenever she hears parents saying they cannot afford school fees for their children. It was account of that that Mrs. Kpange said she approached Dr Mustapha and asked him to help some of the children. Mrs. Kpange thanked Dr Mustapha profusely for listening to her pleas and making such a huge contribution to the Kpeje west Community. She used that opportunity to appeal to other descendants of Kpeje West Chiefdom to join hands in helping the community. Further, Mrs. Kpange explained the process of choosing the recipients. She informed the gathering that the Scholarship Committee comprised Dr Marda Mustapha, the donor; herself, Mr Alex Foday, principal of St John\u2019s, Mr Frank Charles, principal Methodist Agricultural  Secondary School, Mr. Eric Mustapha representing the Paramount Chief and Mr. Sannoh from Kondibu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In response, both principals of St John\u2019s Vocational Junior Secondary School and Methodist Agricultural  Secondary School, Mr. Alex Foday and Mr. Frank Charles respectively thanked Mrs Kpange for seeking out funding for needy students. They admonished other community members to emulate Mrs Kpange\u2019s example of looking out for the Chiefdom. The parents were very grateful and each of them asked for God\u2019s blessings for the donor Dr Marda Mustapha. They said they had no idea where they were going to get funds to pay their children\u2019s\u2019 school fees. Two of the recipients had just lost their fathers and the mothers said the help could not have been more timely.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The eleven students who benefited from Dr Mustapha\u2019s generosity are: From Saint John\u2019s Vocational Junior Secondary School: Emmanuel Yamba, Massah Mambu, Mariama Suamana, Mohamed Brima and Michael Sheku; the recipients from Methodist Agricultural Secondary School are: Foday Moseray, Allieu Bockarie, Francis Lahai, Ibrahim Lamin, Evalyn Borbor and Isatu Jalloh. All speakers implored the students to be very studious and focus on their education as the donor will be monitoring their progress. This reporter was also informed that Dr Mustapha had earlier on made donations of building materials to the Muslim community in Jokibu, a village four miles from Bunumbu.
