{"id":19424,"date":"2011-02-11T16:51:12","date_gmt":"2011-02-11T21:51:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=19424"},"modified":"2011-02-11T16:51:12","modified_gmt":"2011-02-11T21:51:12","slug":"st-edwards-celebrates-turns-89","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=19424","title":{"rendered":"St. Edwards Celebrates turns 89"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was overwhelming colourful past Sunday as Saint Edwards Secondary School celebrated its 89<sup>th<\/sup> birthday at the May Park ground.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Proud Edwardians, old and young, cheerfully celebrated the school\u2019s birthday in a grand and unique style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The celebration is seen by many as a threshold in the restoration of the school\u2019s glory of excellence in the field of education.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Saint Edwards is one of the few schools that have acquired remarkable achievements years and years past.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Edwardians, in their speeches, admonished pupils to work toward their goals and try to live up to expectation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They called on the pupils to bring back the school\u2019s previous respectable status.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An old boy, Mr. Ishmael Tarawalie, who works in the office of Nation Security (ONS), was at the high table and delivered a speech on issues bordering on education.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his statement, he emphasized on the theme \u2018falling educational standards and how to revitalize it.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To a galaxy of Edwardians, he said, retrogression of the educational standard, Indiscipline, poor dress code is order of the day and has swallowed the glory of the school.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He reflected on how Saint Edwards used to be a fountain of hope and an epitome of academic excellence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That the political history of S\/L can never be said if names of prominent Edwardians such as Mr. Albert Margai and Ex- President Kabbah are not mentioned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said Saint Edwardians schools have been excelling and are still standing out as one of the best.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further called on the pupils to work assiduously in rebranding the status of the school.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe can all achieve our goals with a concerted effort, as this will also compliment President Koroma\u2019s clarion call for attitudinal and behavioral change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He encouraged the teachers to work in the interest of the school.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The school\u2019s flag was then raised following a song by Mr. Gbril Saccoh, who doubles as Deputy Director General of NASSIT.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Stay with Sierra Express Media, for your trusted place in news!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was overwhelming colourful past Sunday as Saint Edwards Secondary School celebrated its 89th birthday at the May Park ground.
