Corners, streets, highways, pubs read front page headlines on local newspapers in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n
All but not any neither say anything positive nor confirmed the arrival of a good \u2018CAT scan\u2019 machine for use at Connaught Hospital.<\/p>\n
Newspapers, time and again, have carried stories explaining how money was paid for the purchase of a standard \u2018CAT scan\u2019 machine to Jamal Shallop, but went in vain.<\/p>\n
While some say the machine was never supplied to the Ministry of Health, others claimed it was, but an old one.<\/p>\n
Persistent publication of stories that reveals unwholesome conduct of Jamal Shallop, allures President Koroma\u2019s uncompromising decision, in the institution of an investigation to confirm whether what the press had said concerning the purchase of the \u2018CAT scan\u2019 machine was true.<\/p>\n
Senior medical officers were contracted to critically inspect the machine and report findings without delay.<\/p>\n
Earlier then, the machine which was at the Connaught Hospital, outwardly had no use and was virtually not making any impact to the lives of society.<\/p>\n
The uninvestigated and opinionated comments of Sierra Leoneans in relation to accusation that government and contractor Jamal Shallop are playing games dominate lips of all.<\/p>\n
But doubtful Sierra Leoneans only came to rest shortly after the Gordon Harris and a Nigerian expert were hired to examine the Jamal Shallop\u2019s \u2018CAT scan\u2019 machine report their findings unbiased.<\/p>\n
Of course, the hired experts later submitted their findings confirming that the machine is new and good for use.<\/p>\n
Again, it was then that Sierra Express able to know that doctors working at Connaught Hospital don\u2019t know how to use the CAT scan machine, but never wanted government to know it.<\/p>\n
Personnel attached to the X-ray department of Connaught Hospital also told this press that the \u2018CAT scan\u2019 machine is expensive and highly sophisticated.<\/p>\n
It was revealed also that no Sierra Leonean doctor is able to operate it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe machine is exclusively operated by an expert (a Nigerian national),\u201d they say, \u201cin fact, it is always under lock and key and could only be accessed if the expert wants to make use of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Concern for humanity and love for all, is Sierra Express\u2019 concentration and reason for doing in-depth findings in relation to the contract for the purchase of CAT scan machine.<\/p>\n
It must be noted that the arrival of the scanning machine also reveals how Sierra Leonean doctors lack knowledge in the use of modern machinery.<\/p>\n
It was all shaming when it was discovered that Sierra Leonean doctors working at Connaught Hospital don\u2019t know how to operate the imported scanning machine.<\/p>\n
Had an expert not been hired as operator for so good a \u2018CAT scan\u2019 machine, society would have blamed the contractor, Jamal Shallop.<\/p>\n
Again, Sierra Express, in its bid to inform society of all that happens around them, step up investigations on issues surrounding the purchase of the CAT scan machine, bringing to light information to society.<\/p>\n
All that is said in this piece has truth, the whole truth and nothing but truth.<\/p>\n
