Fifa\u2019s Ethics Committee finally decided to punish the Nigeria and West Africa Union President (WAFU) for what they described as football-related activity after a newspaper video footage has shown the Fifa Executive committee member, Amos Adamu asking for \u00a3500,000 to sell his vote for the 2018 World Cup bid<em>.\u00a0 (Photo: <\/em><em>Adamu faces 3 years out of football)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The footage, filmed by undercover Sunday Times journalists, shows Adamu wanting money to be paid to him directly for endorsing a bid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the video, Adamu was asked whether the money for a \u201cprivate project\u201d would have an effect on the way he voted, he replied: \u201cObviously, it will have an effect. Of course it will, because certainly if you are to invest in that, which means you also, want the vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was reported earlier last month that Adamu, alongside Tahiti\u2019s Reynald Temarii, president of the Oceania Football Confederation, is also alleged by the paper to have demanded payment to finance a sports academy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now it is confirmed that Fellow Executive Committee member Reynald Temarii was handed a one year ban from all football-related activity and fined 5000 Swiss francs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both men were provisionally suspended days after the story, as FIFA launched an investigation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Adamu has expressed his &#8216;profound disappointment at the verdict and released a pre-emptive statement saying he would appeal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;I am profoundly disappointed with the Ethics Committee&#8217;s findings and had honestly believed I would be exonerated of any charges by now,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I am innocent of all the charges levelled against me by the Ethics Committee and I completely refute the decision they have made.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;As yet I have not been advised of the grounds of the Ethics Committee&#8217;s decision but regardless, I will be lodging a full appeal against it with immediate effect.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Six men fact out<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reynald Temarii (FIFA vice-president) was banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for a period of one year. Furthermore, he was fined CHF 5,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Amos Adamu (FIFA Executive Committee member) was banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for a period of three years. Furthermore, he was fined CHF 10,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Slim Aloulou (chairman of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber and member of the FIFA Players\u2019 Status Committee) was banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for a period of two years. Furthermore, he was fined CHF 10,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ahongalu Fusimalohi (General Secretary of the Tonga FA) was banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for a period of three years. Furthermore, he was fined CHF 10,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Amadou Diakite (member of the FIFA Referees Committee) was banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for a period of three years. Furthermore, he was fined CHF 10,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ismael Bhamjee (CAF honorary member) was banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for a period of four years. Furthermore, he was fined CHF 10,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">FIFA had opened proceedings against the two Executive Committee members on 18 October 2010 and had requested the Ethics Committee to conduct an independent, in-depth investigation into the matter.
