Allieu Sesay\u2019s 57 counts questioned"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Legal counsel for the indicted National Revenue Authority Commissioner General (NRA), Allieu Sesay <em>(in photo)<\/em>, has questioned the 57 count charges put forward by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Defence counsel for Allieu Sesay this past Monday told Justice Samuel Ade-Musun that charges levied against the accused Allieu, his wife, and others are full of duplicity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lawyer Yada refers to charges in the indictments chart as vague and unclear. \u00a0Offences put forward by officials of the ACC deal with 18 separate contracts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It could be recalled that the ACC under erstwhile Abdul Tejan Cole, instituted a corruption investigation against Allieu Sesay, who prior to his suspension was the Commissioner General, NRA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The investigation which took a year and half, later saw Allieu and others in court to answer to 57 count charges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Allieu, who alongside his wife, answers to corruption allegations, has made several appearances in high court to challenge ACC\u2019s 57 counts assertion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the particulars of offence of Allieu and his wife Fatmata Ojubana Sesay, it was stated that the latter paid in a private account of her husband the sum of USD $7,000 as an inducement to win a contract at the NRA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although Allieu\u2019s team of legal experts damned all 57 counts as having serious deceit and imprecision, ACC\u2019s prosecutorial stance remains the same.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his objection to submissions made by the defence, prosecution lawyer, Reginald Fyne, said counts 54, 55, 56 and 57 are understandable and unambiguous, stating that each set out what the accused have done.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That count 54 clearly explains how accused Fatmata gave an advantage of USD $7,000 to her husband Allieu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
