{"id":16156,"date":"2010-11-11T23:44:20","date_gmt":"2010-11-12T04:44:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierraexpressmedia.com\/?p=16156"},"modified":"2010-11-11T23:44:20","modified_gmt":"2010-11-12T04:44:20","slug":"equatorial-guinea-and-nigeria-in-finals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sierraexpressmedia.net\/?p=16156","title":{"rendered":"Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria in finals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria will both represent Africa at next year&#8217;s FIFA Women&#8217;s World Cup 2011 in Germany after reaching the final of the CAF African Women&#8217;s Championship in Daveyton,  South Africa, on Thursday, 11 November 2010.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While Equatorial Guinea beat South Africa 3-1 to reach the finals for the first time in their history, Nigeria won 5-1 against Cameroon to qualify for a sixth successive time<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We&#8217;re all very excited about Equatorial   Guinea&#8217;s first ever appearance at a Women&#8217;s World Cup. This success deserves recognition, coming as it does after an extremely impressive footballing performance against strong teams like Cameroon, Algeria, Ghana and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Newcomers always add flair to the World Cup,&#8221; said OC President Steffi Jones, who also congratulated both the Equatorial Guinean and Nigerian associations in personal letters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jones went on to describe Germany&#8217;s &#8220;huge respect for the Nigerian team, who are yet to miss out on a Women&#8217;s World Cup. It wouldn&#8217;t surprise me if Nigeria remains in the tournament right to the very end, just like they did at the recent U-20 Women&#8217;s World Cup. The friendly match between Nigeria and Germany on 25 November in Leverkusen is going to be a real treat for the fans&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As well as Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria, Australia, Korea DPR, England, France, Japan, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and hosts Germany have already secured qualification for the FIFA Women&#8217;s World Cup 2011.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Steffi Jones will soon be writing personal welcome letters to the three remaining qualifiers, which will be determined as follows:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>South America<\/strong><strong> (CONMEBOL):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Two teams<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Qualifying: South American Women&#8217;s Championship from 4-21 November 2010 in Ecuador.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The remaining FIFA World Cup spot will be decided by a play-off between USA (third-placed team from the CONCACAF zone) and Italy (fifth-placed UEFA team). The matches will be played on 20 and 27 November 2010, with Italy hosting the first leg.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Furthermore, the OC President, along with a FIFA delegation, will visit each of the 15 qualified nations between December 2010 and March 2011 as part of a welcome tour.
