Zainab Kamara made the official disclosure to this writer in a phone interview from the United States recently. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We are shipping some relief items, including, medical equipments – mattresses, wheel chairs, boxes of bed sheets and clothes which will be delivered to one of Freetown\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s main referral hospitals, the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH)”, said the SLWOM scribe.<\/p>\n

The items, worth thousands of United States Dollars, she adds, are donations received from various relief organizations in the US and are expected to boost the country\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s free medical delivery launched by His Excellency, the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma on 27th April, 2010.<\/p>\n

The Sierra Leone Women\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Movement of Massachusetts, Inc. founded in September, 2008 is a non-political and charity organization established for the primary purpose of advancing the educational, cultural and medical needs of Sierra Leoneans, particularly women and children.<\/p>\n
SLWOM\u00c2\u00a0 has been working to attract US doctors, Para-medical personnel, nurses and other medical specialists to travel to Sierra Leone and help in improving the country\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s medical institutions and clinics.<\/p>\n

In an effort to do so, its board members, Ms. Gillian Mcfoy, the President, Mrs. Bomporo Savage, Vice President, Mrs. Zainab Kamara, Secretary General, Ms. Nyambe Tawah Executive Director, Ms. Ntuma Kabba, Treasurer, to name but a few, have been working tirelessly on a project to generate funds within the US.<\/p>\n

The Secretary General made the remark that charitable donations related to this effort will medically help many patients in various hospitals in Sierra Leone. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Our short term goal is to reduce the mortality rate due to child birth, malaria and other preventable health related causes,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Vice President, Board Member, Mrs. Bomporo Savage explained.<\/p>\n
